History Page and a special something ... Written by BlueD on January 28th, 2008

Hey Everyone,

It's been just over a week since Culture Shock LAN - 2. I believe this event went VERY well, thanks to the amazing group of gamers that attended.

I'm sure most of you have caught up on your sleep ... and for those that haven't, I feel your pain.

As some of you may have noticed, the History pages for Culture Shock LAN - 2 are available and now complete (videos will be posted during the week). To check it out, click the HISTORY button at the top.

Since we are always trying to raise the bar for LAN gaming, and improve on what has already been done by many great groups in Ottawa, we've added a special page, dedicated to "Culture Shock LAN CHAMPIONS", called the "Hall of Fame". This page can be viewed by clicking the HISTORY button, and then the HALL OF FAME button. On this special page, you will see all the tournament Champions listed by game and event. The goal of this page, is to bring a competitive edge to Culture Shock LAN Events as well as show everyone which gamer truly prevails by defending their title from event to event!

We'd also like everyone to go to the forum and vote for the ideal time to host Culture Shock LAN - 3.

Now the planning for the 3rd event begins ...

Less than 48 hours Written by BlueD on January 17th, 2008

It's almost time for the big event!

A few last minute checks:
- Go through the Checklist on the INFO page (here).
- Make sure Counter-Strike source is configured for offline play because there will be no internet. (here)
- Sign and bring a copy of the contract (They will also be available at the door. If you are under 18 years old, you must have a signature from a parent/guardian) (here)
- Make sure everything is in working order!

Another important note. The source servers used for the LAN will be updated at 11:00pm on Friday night, after this time, if there are any other updates released to source, the servers will not be running them. I suggest you all get steam to work in offline mode at 11pm and not play till you are at the LAN. Since steam is such a touchy subject, we have no choice but to do it this way.

Another sponsor update! We'd like to thank RB Computing Inc, who's donated some OCZ swag for the event, along with some headphones and a couple other give-a-ways. Also to Red Rush for supplying us with some Caffeine chocolat bars to keep you gaming all night!

Anyone still thinking about coming, there are still seats available, and you'll be allowed to pay at the door on a first come basis.

See you all on Saturday!

Less than 2 weeks! Written by BlueD on January 9th, 2008

That's right, less than 2 weeks till the event!

The schedule is now posted for the upcoming event, the seating chart is up and VIP members can now reserve a seat.

To reserve your seat, it's quite simple, click the EDIT INFO button at the top (under the site banner). Login with your email and password you provided when you signed up. Scroll down the page and select your seat in the drop down (only available seats are listed). Click the UPDATE SEAT button. You will then be redirected to the Seat Map page to view your selection.

If you haven't paid yet, or haven't signed up, it's not too late to do so! You have until 11:59PM on Wednesday Jan 16th to send your payment through paypal to become VIP. If you miss this deadline, you can always show up and pay at the door (Special VIP offers will not be included).

Also, I urge everyone to check the forums for more information, and those members coming to play Steam based games, please read the post in the EVENT section of the forums on how to setup your Steam for offline play before the LAN.

Another quick note, Source servers will be up-to-date as of Thursday Jan 17th at 11:00PM. After this time, I suggest you do not login to steam or update your source, and that you setup offline mode and test it. You wouldn't want to be disappointed at the event.

Any questions, comments, suggestions, let us know on the forums or by email.
Hope to see you all at the event!
