Please wear your name tag at all times during the event. Nametags must be placed on the front of your shirt in the chest area. All tables will be clearly marked with where you should be seated according to the seating chart on the website. Please set up your computer and start gaming. If there are any complications the staff will try and help as best we can with the limited time we have before tournaments commence. ContractWe will be asking everyone to sign a contract as they enter. This contract is there to avoid problems. The contract removes any responsibility from the crew for damages, theft, unruly conduct and specifies your responsibility in attending Culture Shock etc...If you are under the age of 18, you will need to have the contract signed by a parent or guardian. In any case, we encourage you to download, print, and complete the contract in advance as this will greatly accelerate the registration process. You may get the contract here. If a player or guest is acting in any unruly behaviour and this is brought up to the staff, the player or guest will first be given a warning by a member of the crew. If the unacceptable behaviour persists, he or she will be asked to leave and their registration fee will not be refunded. If the player does not leave, Carleton University Security will be called immediately and/or the Ottawa-Carleton Police. Headphones/ No SpeakersAs mentioned above in the What to bring section, no speakers will be allowed into the Galleria Room. The reasoning is because most speakers take up more power then we have. We budget our power requirements to fit comfortable as many players as we can without blowing a circuit. Also most speakers are loud and distracting to other players who may need to hear what is happening in their game to better compete. For these reasons speakers will not be permitted.ServersDuring the event we will have dedicated servers for the tournaments and the massive multiplayer games. At any time you may host your own game. You may let a staff member know and we can announce it if you are missing players. If you want we can always announce a potential game to see if there’s interest!SnacksDuring the event, we will be selling:Chocolate Bars Energy Drinks Drinks Water Bottles Chips After the VIP members get their pizza, slices will be sold to anyone else. You may bring your own food and drinks to the event, however there will be no alcohol permited at the event. All prices are very reasonable so help support the event and get some snacks! Naps / SleepingYou may bring your sleeping bag pillow and anything else you may need to help you sleep (Teddy!). We will have a designated area for sleeping. If space permits you may bring an inflatable mattress however; you can only have it blown up in the designated area.LeavingYou may leave the event at any time to go get food, snacks or go home to rest, as indicated in the signed contract Culture Shock or any affiliated members are not responsible for your computer or any of your goods. However; we will be there for the full 28 hours and will try our best to ensure top safety.Once your favourite competition is over and if you want to go home, please take apart your computer and re-tape all used cords back unto the table. Before leaving please come tell us that you are leaving for that we know what happened to you and your belongings. SuggestionsOn the Forums and during the event the Culture Shock team would be more then willing to listen to any suggestions you or your friends may have. We want to host many future Culture Shock LAN events and making them as entertaining as possible is our top goal! |
